Transition Into Luminous Oak Academy
At Luminous Oak Academy, we know that transition is a big step for every child, and it can feel exciting as well as worrying. That’s why we take a personalised approach to support each pupil.
Change, even positive change, can feel overwhelming, and it’s completely normal for children and families to find this period challenging.
That’s why we take a personalised, relationship‑centred approach to transition. If your child has been offered a place and you have accepted it, we will contact their current school to plan the most supportive transition pathway for them. This may include visits, shared information, opportunities to meet key adults, and a settling‑in plan tailored to your child’s needs, strengths and experiences.
We work closely with families and previous settings to create a sense of safety, consistency and trust — the foundations children need to feel secure in a new environment.
If you would like additional support during this time, the following organisations offer helpful advice for children who may feel worried or unsettled by change:
- Young Minds – Supporting Children Through Change and Worry
- NSPCC – Helping Children Manage Big Feelings
- Place2Be – Advice for Families Coping With Transitions
